Southlands Summer School runs in the first two weeks of the Summer Holidays.
Southlands Summer activity weeks have now ran for over 10 years. Mainly available to our new intake of year 7's for the coming September it gives them the chance to get to know the school and some of the staff they will see in September. There are a limited amount of places for current year 7 students to access the weeks, this allows them to mix with the new students starting in September.
Last Summer group of 20 had an action packed, safe experience for two weeks at the start of their Summer Holidays. Supervised by 4 Southlands Staff and 3 volunteers all students had a fantastic time following the programme below.
Brockbushes Strawberry picking, Hexham Park, Cinema/Lunch Park, Whickham Thornes, Whitehouse Farm, Swimming.
From archery, assault course and climbing at Whickam Thornes to digger driving and truck rides at Diggerland, swimming and fun at the local Waves swimming pool, strawberry picking at Brockbushes and visits to Blyth Beach and Park, a Ground tour and activity day at St James’ Park students experienced visits and trips they may not normally get access to. As well as being involved in some fun school based activities.
