CURRICULUM AIM

At Southlands School, Design Technology provides all students with opportunities to enjoy learning and experience success through the development and expression of their creative, practical, technical and artistic skills.

Our curriculum aims to develop students’ understanding of the impact of technology on the environment, both within their local community and across the wider world.

We are committed to developing learners’ practical and creative abilities, fostering independence and encouraging students to take risks, solve problems and develop into resourceful, innovative and capable individuals.

Students develop a wide range of subject knowledge and skills, making meaningful connections with other subjects, including Mathematics, English, Science, Art, Geography and ICT. This cross-curricular approach supports students in applying their learning to real-life situations and becoming more confident, independent learners.
